Is a 89 automatic starter the same as a standard trans one. Also what makes a 90-92 starter different from earlier ones ?

please help if you are certain about the topic of this thread, if you have pics of the starer and why there different please post them.

not sure where you get your info from but there is no difference in an 89. One part number for both transmissions... so your answer is yes they are the same for both.

On my 92 I started with a 305 and swapped to a L98 (350) and I noticed the 350 starter was bigger. (and heavier) I tried the 305 starter simply because it was smaller and it worked just fine for my 9.8 to 1 CR 350. I then got ahold of a LT1 starter which was even smaller than the 305 starter and was designed to turn over a 10.5 to 1 LT1. All of these starters bolted right up to my 92 auto and later T-56 transmissions. Hope that helps.
