third gen fuel guages

very innacurate. i fixed my fuel tank so yesterday i filled up the car. the guage will not read full. it reads more like 3/4. why are these guauges so innacurate? is it the guage itself or the sending unit?

i think once u step on the gas it will give u closer to the full point.

i never digged into the gas tank before but it has to do with
location of sensor,
it's located in the back of the tank,
so when u step on gas the gas flows to the backside of the tank
making it read more than what u have,
and when ur going downhill it makes it read less than what u have.

what you say makes some sense but when i have a full tank it should read full no matter what. the float would be stuck in the full position until the fuel is down enough that it could move

I had to replace the sending unit in the and, real pain in the butt. Anyways anytime i get below 1/4 of a tank things whack out. If I step on the brake to fast or go around a curve my car will stall.

these cars have a crappy float or sending unit or something.. even going around moderate corners can drastically alter the fuel guage readings, on both cars I've owned and in all the third gens I've ever driven.

however, I've never had a stalling problems with low fuel.
