Ignition Coil

Im installing a new ignition coil , the OEM part from checkers auto parts.

Basically i think They didnt offer me the bracket that comesd with it, because the FACTORY COIL, comes with a bracket with two pain in the A$$ rivets.. do i need to purchase a new bracket? because i dont know where to turn, i dont have a dremel etc...

basically they sold me a ignition coil, and now i cant properly install it , bvecause of lack of tools/shop....

i hope they sell a new bracket

any thoughts?

Also corrosion is located on the 8 points of inside the distributor cap... Replace ?

I know you can take a wirebrush, or something similar to that effect to get the corrosion off. Or you could just spend 25$ for a cap and rotor from MSD and be sure everything's perfectly clean.

Yeah I'd replace the cap. I would also replace the coil with an Accel or MSD high voltage coil, but that's just me. The OEM coil will work fine. As far as the bracket goes...you'll have to remove it from the original coil. Did the new coil come with the apporpriate bolts and nuts to attach the bracket to the coil? My MSD coil did so I would assume yours did too. I used a screwdriver and a hammer to chop off the big ends of the rivets going through the bracket, it came right off after that. A drill would work too.

A drill accually works great, I did this not to long ago, the MSD coil comes with the bracket, or you could just use the old bracket and run new screws through the holes. Get the screws from home depot, or advaced should have something.
