finally got started
i finally got my porting kit from summit in this weekend and the hobby shop was closed yesterday so i got to experiment with my heads today. i started using the christmas tree grinders and damn am i glad i got the ones with the longer extensions..dont remember who recommended it but now i see why and thank you...
i got one head port matched and am still taking out all the imperfections in the runners...ive got about 3 hours in them before the hobby shop closed and i looked at the difference in the one i was working on with the untouched one, and damn no wonder they dont flow well from the factory.
p.s. some of those big casting bumps in the runners were a B*TCH...im kinda excited to get these things done and get the 3 angle valve job done and see what kinda flow i get then
thanks for all of your help

What heads do you have, and what kind of rotary are you using? Should make for a nice 40horse 40lbft gain from idle on up, best mod for a stock headed engine i think.

they are 416 castings (58cc 305 heads). im using a pnuematic die grinder with the standard abrasives deluxe porting kit with a few extra grinding stones.
hopefully i will be able to get them on a flow bench to see what they put out. but i have no idea who has one around me nor how much they would charge. i figure if im going to spend this much time on doing them right might as well know where they stand, and how good of a job i did (for a 19 yr old kid anyway
).
id be pretty happy with a 40hp/40ftlb gain over stock, then with my new cam (comp cams 284h) and a set of roller rockers with a good valve job i should be setting pretty good with a gutted out 85 maro...hopefully anyway
