Help me tune my SBC

Ok, engine and trans swap are done and it's running (just not what I expected yet). So that being said, I need some help tuning my car. Specs are in my sig, but I just swapped in a fresh 350 and also did the turbo 350 conversion with a 3k stall.

The car will fire up and idle just fine. When I get on it, it doesn't seem like it's all there. It will accelerate up to about 4K rpms and then shift gears. It feels sluggish, almost like the 4 barrels aren't opening up.

Timing is set at 10* as a baseline. Carb is a Holley 750cfm, straight out of the box, no tuning. FPR is set a 6 psi measured at idle.

Where do I start? I do have some valve chatter above 2K rpms so I plan on starting there. What next? Any recommendations or good writeups to follow? This is my first engine swap / tune and I want to do it myself.

Right now my trailblazer SS will completely smoke the camaro. I don't expect the camaro to have the throttle reponse on the LS-2 but I do expect it to run better than my crappy 305 CFI did!

ok yea, you want to re-set your lash after break in. I'd try and do it with the car running (get some oil deflectors). That'll let you know right away if you lost a few lobes.

Assuming all is well, check vacuum at idle in gear, make sure your PV is right.

Looks like you did a wicked job on the 601 heads i'm impressed.

check the plugs, may need to clean them off, or replace them after the break in. I'd watch a few plugs, and jet as needed. I'd guess you need to jet down a little bit.

I ran the car for the normal 15-20 minutes varying RPM's throughout and then went back and re-lashed the valves. After putting the car under load, some of the valves seem to have loosened up, so I'll relash all them to be safe. I'll probably throw a new set of plugs in it to be safe too.

Sound I do anything with timing or leave it at 10* for now?

Any recommendations on jet sizes or PV size? Should I just order up the kit through summit?

disco the vacuum advance mechanism, then rev the motor up to 3000RPM or so, and check the timing then. You want that set to 36*. Then put it back to idle, and reset your idle speed.

Once the car is idlling right, put it in gear, and check your vacuum level. Divide that by 2, and get the closest PV to that #.

Jets you'll have to play with. Drive it around only on the primaries, read the plugs, and swap jets to get it running right.

FPR regulator at 6 psi sound about right?

Time for some tuning when I get home.

PS - thanks for the help!
