gas gauge help

Last summer I changed the fuel pump out in my 92 Camaro RS. I changed it form a TBI to a TPI pump. I reconnected everything together and made sure the pump worked. I then put the tank back up and drove it happilly, untill....

I now have a non-functioning gas gauge. It worked 100% until I replaced the pump. What the gauge will do now is sit way past the full mark and stay there. It will only move when I am low on gas and take a sharp turn. Then it will register (for a second) what is probably the correct amount of around 1/2 tank.

I have chased the issue around for a while, checked lines, connections, fuses, pulled the instrument cluster and ran a few resistance checks. I am still stumped though. Could it be a problem with the sending unit being hung up on something?

The swingarm on the sending unit could be hung up on something, but it is more likely that the circuit or connection to the level sensor is open or poorly connected, or the tank ground is poor. An open circuit will cause a FULL indication on the gauge.
