383

i was just wondering what you guys think about the 383 and the life span of them. a friend told me he read somewhere that 383's dont last long because of the longer stroke. i dont know if this is true or not. i want to a motor thats going to be driven almost daily, im not really expecting to take it to the track, i just want to have some power there so that i can have fun every once in a while. just let me know what you guys think.

and also i was looking at the Blueprint Motors 383 base engine. does anyone have any thoughts about this motor? i know they have a 2 year 24,000 mile warrenty but i dont know much about the quality of their engines.
input and suggestions would be great. thanks.

383 life span

Well that all depends on how well it's built I've had a total of three on my third now all in different cars My last one was in a 93 gmc 2wd and I put close to 125,000 miles on it and it was still running fine the last time I saw it about 3 weeks ago and that guy has put about 12,000 miles on it since he bought it from me so I say they last as long as any other motor.

Its the same stroke the 400 came with, and the 454 came with an even longer stroke, and theres many that have outlived the cars they once provided propulsion for....

Seems like a solid choice, but it doesn't say much about the rods, rod bolts, or the cam. And why are they using a HV oil pump? No need for one with that engine.
