Quick Starter Shim ?'s
Will the universal starter shims I see in the Help! sections at parts stores work with these cars? What clearance should I shim it out to, where do I take this measurement, and what bolts do I shim up? (assuming there is more than one way to shim it away from the motor, if not, ignore this question) If I shim a bolt to pull the gear away from the flywheel, do I need to equally shim out any other bolt along the same surface?
I've never shimmed up a starter before, and I feel dumb for asking after all of the wrenching I've done, but I'd feel alot dumber if I burned up a new starter by doing it incorrectly, lol.
*edit* long story short, i turn it over and it clicks, sometimes alot, before it actually TURNS over. mostly after its warmed up, but it has never sounded weak or not started. the lady i bought it from had a starter just put in it, and said it has done it ever since.
^so it doesn't look like Ape is crazy and talking to himself, lol

damn your quick, lol
i thought so at first also, so i let it ride out for almost a year now. but it has done it all this time with little change, and when it does fire, it fires RIGHT up. quickly, and almost instantly. it sounds very strong.
and i also figured a lil time out of my day wouldn't hurt it any. if it still does it, i'll buy a starter next payday
