I know Hypertech chips are crap, but can they hurt performance? I put one in my car when I first got it (did not know any better) and now I have just left it in there figuring that even if it does not help much that it cant hurt it either. It was stock then, now it has a Crane 2032 cam, AFPR, LT headers, 24# inj. and the free mods.

it depends on how much they really did to it.
generally they lower fan temps & turn up fuel & advance ignition timing which is not always a good thing.
a customer where i work at went through 4 or 5 hypercrap chips & each one had problems. he then tried jet chips & got no better, the next to last chip jet sent him had the fan on temps turned down, huge amounts of timing added everywhere & VATS turned off. he got a lot of spark knock even with 93 gas from it, i feel he was lucky he didn't damage his motor.
the last chip only had fan on temps turned down & they set the timing to less than what a stock chip runs.
with the mods you have done, i feel you should get into burning your own chips. even on a stock motor you can pick up a little performance just by fine tuning the chip by using what Grumpy says, "give the motor what it wants".
