Oil cooler problem

Need all of your infinite wisdom guy's. I somehow cracked this piece(SEE PIC) that sits between the oil cooler adapter and the engine block. It has been discontinued by GM. This silver disk has a pressire spring in it and is where the sandwich style cooler screews on to the block. Need to move my car ASAP any ideas on finding this thing or bypassing the whole oil cooler?
HELP.
Thanks

dont see why you couldnt bypass the oil cooler. the piece you broke should be the adapter from the bloch to the filter bypass and then to the filter.

otherwise you can purshase the oil filter mounts from summit racing or jegs

Isn't that the same oil filter adapter that's been on every small block since the introduction of the spin-on filter?

When I went from oil cooler to no oil cooler, all I did was remove the cooler and replace the bolts. That part is the same, IMHO.

I bet the dealer looked up the wrong part.

That's what I'm thinking too. You should be able to find one anywhere. Your local machine shop probably has a pile of them. I probably even have a pile of them.

when you remove the adapter how do you spin on the filter to the block? Only thing left is a hole thats where I must need to put a filter adapter. Cant just remove the adapter.

You're just talking to people who have never had a reason to see one before. It's not a part that requires replacement commonly. It's not even a part that ever gets removed commonly, unless the engine is being rebuilt.

Your broken part isn't a part of the adapter, it's a part of the oil filter mount. You can't mount an oil filter or the oil cooler without it.

Aperion, I agree with you. What I need is a place to find a replacement mount.

Try a machine shop or an engine rebuilder, a used one from them will be cheapest. Otherwise, I can look up the GM part number for you.
