strong gas odor near fuel tank (literally)
no kidding, but this isn't normal... situation = after the car has been in operation for a while - few minutes, couple of hours - and i stop and shut it off, i can smell gas pretty strong near the tank. today i put the car up on stands and looked and felt around the lines and such with the engine running, but did not find anything. only two things i can think of, one is the gas cap, the other is what appears to be like a "vent" hooked to a line from the tank that is attached along side the firewall area. the pump was changed not too long ago, but don't recall this problem after the change. nothing seems to be leaking anyways.

Yeah there is alot of "hot gas'' drama, but it could be as simple as a bad gas cap. Just something to think about.

you know if you look on a recall website, there is something about turd gens having a recall for something in the fuel system so you might want to check that out.

If it's your Z28, then yes, 1991 Camaros had a recall for something with the gas tank. If you take it in they HAVE to replace the entire tank. If they don't then take it up with GM headquarters, but they HAVE to do it, no ifs, ands, or buts.
Lucky you.
Lucky you.
