wrench size for fuel filter?
i'm changing my fuel filter and the damn thing wont come off. when it didnt come off easily the first time, i've soaked it in PB blaster a few times over two days now and just tried it again with no luck. i've been trying a 5/8 wrench on the fuel line nut, but its starting to round off, so i'm getting nervous about trying it any more. i'm starting to thing that maybe the nuts are metric or is it really stuck on there that bad??? i dont have any metrics yet, so lemme know if I need to go get some.
also, if the nuts on the fuel lines get any worse, i'm gonna be in a bad place. can just those end pieces be replaced, or would I have to replace the ENTIRE fuel lines to fix it?
if i ever get this damn thing off, i'm gonna put some anti-seize on the new one

you need 2 wrenches to remove the fuel filter.
one that fits the filter & one for the fuel line fitting.
for the filter its either a 13/16 or a 7/8, i don't remember for sure.
the wrench for the line fittings is 5/8, you need to use a line wrench on it or you risk rounding off, but it may be too late as you have already started to round them off. if it is too late, you can probably use vise grips to get it off, but then you will also probably have to repair the lines. use a good quality line wrench, a sears craftsman line wrench at the minimun.
normally a good quality open end wrench works fine on the filter with no problem, but sometimes you need a line wrench for it too.
i believe you can get replacement ends for the metal fuel lines, do NOT use rubber hose to splice it back together, it will not last & may very well blow off on a TPI fuel system, use compression fittings.

how does a line wrench differ from a regular open ended wrench? i tried searching for 'line wrench' on sears.com, and came up with no exact results. are they typically referred to by another name? i did a google search and came up with 'flare nut' wrenches on several other sites.

line wrench is what most auto mechanics call them, sorry, the correct name is Flare Nut Wrenches.
they are like a thick walled boxed end wrench with a slot cut in them so they fit over the line to get them on the line nut.
this looks like it may be a decent set for use at home.

i see sears also sell other lines of hand tools, i have not bought any hand tools from Sears in a very long time, its probably been around 25 years ago sense the last time, so i don't know if the quality of a craftsman wrench is as good as it was back then. you may want to look at these, much more expensive than a crasftman, but cheaper than snap on,

there is a difference in quality, what you round off off with a craftsman boxed end wrench, i may well be able to remove with a Snap On open end wrench with no problem.
