LT1 Blow by Testing
LT1 Blow by Testing
I have a 94 Formula with a Vortech system that has been running since 95. Earlier this year I noticed a pulsing comming from the oil fill during running and a bit of oil in the intake near the throttle body. Car runs fine. No missing still and still pulls very hard. Car has 63K miles and about 50K with the Vortech. Question is, Will a leak down test find the bad cylinder if there is one? Has any one done a leak down on a LT1 and what should I expect during the test. Who is the expert on this????

try a 4th gen forum, for your specific 4th gen problem. Might have better advice.

Ummm lol
Do a compression test both wet and dry with a warm engine.
Do a leak down test the same way.
Compression they should all be withing 10% fo each other.
Pretty much the same for leakdown as well.
The offending cylinder(if there is one or all) should reveal itself with lower numbers or more leakdown than the rest.
L98, LT1, LS1, they all work the same way, air and fuel in and exhaust out :-)
Same goes for testing them mechanically
