What kind of Heads ???
I have a 87" Iroc w/305 that will need a valve job this winter. Can I just get some heads off a newer Chevy Vortec motor that will work? If so what should I look for (motor size, ect.)

"vortec "heads have raised intake ports and a differenct intake bolt pattern. Requires a vortec specific intake manifold. If you want to adapt vortec heads to your TPI motor you need to buy a vortec TPI manifold and make a few EGR mods etc. The vortec heads to look for have a "062" or a "906" casting number. found on 96-2000 GM 350-5.7L L-31 pickup truck motors. Any thing else is something else. Not a direct bolt on by the results are worth th effort. They work very well.

You have a 305, I think F-bird was mentioning 350 vortec heads, which would lower your CR ratio a tad.
Also, your TPI setup, i'm not sure if you have MAF or SD, MAF should work ok, SD will moan and complain 'cuz "something" is wrong... Then again, a bit of machine work on your current heads might be worth considering.

Thanks for the help. I can have the heads redone, I was just looking to see if there was a way to "Upgrade" to something better? I figured since things have to come off I might find something better performing to bolt back on. Any ideas??
