Distributor installation ?

Hi guys,

Just had my heads rebuilt and will be putting the distributor back in tomorrow. The engine currently sits at TDC. My question is when installing the distributor, approximately where do I want my rotor pointing?

I'm not sure where the distributor cap is supposed to sit? Hope I'm making sense here. Last time I had it installed the part of the cap where the wires plug in was almost touching the firewall and kind of pointing at the driver.

Where should I try to get the rotor pointing at TDC?

Re: Distributor installation ?

Which instance of #1 TDC (at least I'm guessing that's what you mean) is the engine at? #6 firing and #1 valves rocking; or, #1 firing and #6 valves rocking?

Factory correct position is #1 terminal on the cap just to the driver's side of straight to the front, with the batt & tach terminals just about straight toward the driver's side. Firing order 18436572 clockwise from there.

Yes, It's at TDC #1 firing. Thanks, I think you have answered my question!

Just make sure it's at #1 firing, and not the other time #1 comes to TDC during the full engine cycle, which brings #1 to TDC 2 times, only one of which is firing.
