87 and later SBC heads

Found a set of heads laying around so I wrote the casting number down and ran it through Mortec.com. All it could tell me was they are 87 or later SBC's off a 350. The casting number is 14102191. The motor they came off was pulled from an 84 Z28, so I know for a fact they are not the original heads off the car since there was no 350 in F-Body's that year. Can anyone tell me anything about this casting? If there is a performance gain to be had I would like to swap them onto my 305 in place of my junk stock heads. I'm an automotive student and we have the tools to port and polish them and swap them on to the car, all the labor would be free and I'm almost positve they would just give me the heads or for next to nothing so I'd like to find out about them. Thanx in advance. Also... the Z28 is a totally gutted race car and has been since it was almost new, so I'm pretty positive the heads aren't garbage castings.

Wow that was fast. Deos HD stand for heavy duty? Are they garbage? I know swirl ports suck. Are they less prone to cracking than my stockers? If they are mildly ported and polished and I use bigger valves will I see any noticeable power gain?

The large chambers with poor quench are probably going to kill compression and lend themselves more to detonation.

HD stands for the fact that they came on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Most if not all of the "191" heads have sodium filled exhaust valves with larger stems. The flow is pretty poor though not terrible, but the chamber size is huge. You are better off starting with a different casting for more compression.
