Fuel pump boss still there?

Is the ability to put on a mechanical fuel pump on a vortec or early 90 sbc still there. Like a plate covering it or something? I can get a hold of a newer long block but would like to keep a mech. fuel pump so as to not to have t drop my fuel tank for an elec. pump
thanks

I think the pushrod hole isn't drilled. A machine shop can probably make it happen though, but I don't think it's worth the effort.

You can put an electric pump inline, like some of the drag racing guys do.

Sonix is right. Most of the blocks have the boss but it would need to be drilled. It also has to be dead on otherwise it will take out the lobe on the cam. It is not worth doing and odds are it would not be done on the exact right angle. It your talking about any of the never vortec crate motors most of those are set up to use a stock mechanical fuel pump. The electric fuel pumps of today will work just fine for what you want to do and should last the life of the motor. Summit or Jegs sells quite a few that will work just fine. If your using a motor that is close to stock or mildly modified don't get to crazy on the fuel system as most of it will be added expense that is total overkill for your application.

Be sure to put a fuel filter before the fuel pump. this will make the pump last longer as less trash will go through the pump.

Why??? I can have the tank out of a thirdgen in around 1/2 hour. Ive had 14 thrdgens now, and dropping the tank has never been a problem either with stock exhaust or aftermarket.... like people make it out to be.
