Need quick sensor ID help!
All I have left to do to fire up my car is connect the oil pressure and coolant temp wires so my guages will work. There is a coolant sensor on both heads, but the passenger side one is more convenient for me to connect to. Can I use that one, or do I have to use the drivers side head sensor to get the right reading?
Also there is an oil pressure unit right above my oil filter. Then at about the same level as the filter towards the front of the block there is another unit that also appears to be an oil pressure unit. Can I use this unit for my oil pressure guage, or what is that for? Do I have to use the one right above the oil filter?

my circa '70s block had the oil pressure gauge by the distributor, but towards the drivers side. I have no idea about this whole "oil pressure gauge down at the oil filter" deal, but perhaps that's something that changed with the 1pc RMS... again, list your motor type!
Typically the coolant sensor in the PS head is for your PROM, as an input. Your coolant gauge in the dash takes a reading from the DS head.
Again these are with some assumptions...

Then your coolant gauge reads from the driver side head. The fan switch is what occupies the pass. side head.
Not sure what the second "oil sensor" is, but I would go with what's right above the filter.

The unit above my oil filter has a plug with 3 wires I think it was. Tan, gray, and orange. All I want to do is to get my guage to work, I don't need a low oil light ( if this car even has it ... not sure ) but the haynes manual didn't seem too clear on what each of those wires do. It just showed a tan wire going to the sender and the sender being grounded with a black wire .. no mention of gray or orange.

Anyone? I connected the tan wire to the wire for the oil pressure guage, but the needle pegs 0 and doesn't move, but I KNOW the car has oil pressure. Just a stupid wiring issue ... do I need the other 2 wires coming from the sender to get the stock guage going? If so what do I need to do with them?

If you're putting an engine back in the same as what came out, it's just plug & play.
