Fuel pump problem on a '87 2.8L HELP!!!
I have a 87 camaro with a fuel problem. I usually hear the pump prime the system for a couple of seconds when I first turn it on in position 2. Now it will not start, and I dont hear it priming. Is replacing a fuel pump a daunting task, or can the adverage weekend mechanic do the job( I have all general tools). My car in an MPI 2.8L fuel injected, with a intank fuel pump, I think you have to drop the rear end to get the tank out. Do I need any special tools? I will be working on it in my driveway, with some jackstands. Please tell me if this is possible, or should I take it to a mecanic?

To answer your question, yes you can replace it yourself in the driveway. Do a search (there are more than a few posts on this).
Before you decide to change out the pump though, make sure you have power to the pump first. The fuel injector relays tend to go out on these cars. FYI the relay is on the firewall next to the brake booster.

You have to jack the car up pretty high. It scares me to get one that far off the ground. I paid GM to do it for me.
