Intermittent No Start (Pump, relay, or fpr?)
Ok....another weird starting problem. It usually cranks a bit then fires up. This morning she cranked and turned over but would NOT fire up. With the key in the ignition i can hear the pump whine for a few seconds and then shut off. After trying to start it for a couple times i pull the key from the ignition and still hear the pump for a few seconds.
I have a Holley AFPR that I cant get past 40 psi. I thought it was bad unit or improperly put together as I have a eck of a time turning the dial and i cant get it past 40 psi. When i squeeze the fuel return line, the car dies.
I just replaced the fuel pump relay (for good measure).
The car has 200k mi on it, so I wouldnt be surprised if it was the pump, but I didnt think these "wore" out. I mean that I thought either they worked or they didnt work. I was under the impression that a bad fuel pump would NOT slowly die over a month or so and then quit.
Anyway, I got it to fire up eventually and drove it to the shop. Felt kind of choppy like it wasnt getting enough fuel.
Any suggestions as to what this might be.

yeah I replaced the filter. But it may be a moot point. The car went to the shop and I went ahead and just had the filter/strainer replaced. Found out my gas tank was perforated too and needed a new one.
For a grand in parts/labor, lets hope she's running ok
