Damaged lower cylinder walls? Why?
So I tore down my shitty engine as posted in my sig, Every cylinder has this random pattern of damage at the bottom. Kind of in line with the rod for the opposite cylinder. Anyone have any info? They arent really scratch or scape marks, but more of a pounding or head on type of damage. this is the best pic i have atm with my camera phone, I can post higher rez photos in a day or so.

Can't tell from the pic but that is usually caused by either completely wore out wrist pins or the bore is about 3 sizes too big for the pistons. As the rod starts to push the piston up, there is some slop (somewhere) that allows the force of the rod to slamm the piston into the side of the cylinder.
What did the rod bearings look like?

This is the motor that a few days ago didn't pass smog... So you tore it down, this quickly, in october?
Wow, you work fast!
Yea, i'd like to see a half decent picture of that when you have a chance, maybe more zoomed out as well

Only took me about 6 hours to yank the engine and tear it down lol.
I talked to a mechanic about it that saw the engine in person, He says that is normal because the piston does not go down beyond that point and that id does not matter. He says the rod knock was due to a bad injector, and if that I check them, I will see that one is bad.
