How to remove dowels from timing chain cover area.

I have to replace my steel timing chain cover with an updated plastic vortec cover with crank sensor for a project. I notice on the plastic piece it has dowels on it to go into the block rather then having holes on the cover to slide onto dowels in the block. How can I successfully remove the dowels on the block so my cover can go on?

You can use a dowel pin puller.
