Did I find a good head?
I got a set of cylinder heads from my dads friend he says they are pre smog heads so I am guessing there pre 1972. There for a 350 but thats about all I know is there any thing you guys could tell me are they good? or what is combustion volume port sizes or valve size. if not how, could i find out by the casting number and where would some one be able to tell me what they are?
Thanks for you help

haha, yea, without any info aside from "pre-smog heads", theres virtually nothing we can tell you.
But once you have the casting # from it, then we can flood you with information.
Check MorTec, Inc. Home Page for more info.

The casting number is the long ones under the valve covers.
Post the numbers and we should be able to get you the low down on them.

35 year old heads can never be considered a good head with what's available in the aftermarket. The only people who would still want them are people building numbers matching cars and need an old casting.
Chances are it does not have 2.02/1.60 valves and does not have screw in rocker studs. Maybe it will have accessory bolt holes. The spring pockets will be for small springs and the head casting won't be the best.
You have larger valves installed, press in stud bosses machined down for screw in studs, spring pockets cut out for larger springs etc, etc, it will be cheaper to just buy a set of Dart heads which will have all that work done and will have better castings and performance right out of the box.
