automatic transmission weardown

NEVER LET YOUR FRIENDS DRIVE YOUR CAMARO until you know exactly why they want to do it. I am honestly pretty ****en pissed. Ok, him and I took a 100$ bet and he wants to see your answers. I know i'm right, he thinks he's right. I let my moron friend drive my freakin camaro tonight, and while rolling between 30-45 MPH, he'd stick the brand new th350 transmission in Neutral, rev the hell out of engine, keep his foot on the gas and slam the gear back in drive. Did that about 5 times. The car started smelling like burnt plastic or more likely a burnt clutch HARDCORE. Still stunk after i parked it 20 min later. He had the lame excuse that is was the engine working too hard until i told him to pull over if he didn't want to be thrown out of the car. According to him, no damage done, according to me, that b***ard wore my transmission down. So whose right? SHOW ME THE MONEY! And a transmission repair bill for my friend here.

While there may be a potential for glazing the forward clutch and the input sun shell band, I'd be more concerned about free-revving the engine to whatever RPM might have been reached. Aside from potentially ballooning the torque converter, there is too much that can go wrong with a completely unloaded engine at RPMs above 5K for very long unless it was built for RPM.

I'm guessing your "moron friend" will only be a passenger from this point forward.

Why on Earth did you let him do it more than once? If someone neutral dropped my car I would suggest to them that the next time they break 90mph they hit the hand brake and cut the wheel to the left in their own car!! Or you could just mush their head or something cool like that.

If you were in the car with him. I'd say tough luck, your more to blame than him.

Now, if he borrowed it and did without your knowledge, I'd bust his head and make him "Pay Up Sucker".
