No throttle response

Hi, I just got my engine rebuild a couple of months ago, tonight i finally got everything hook up, and i started the thing. It started after a few try's, and i set the timing to 6BTDC It idled normal, but when I pull on the throttle it doesnt rev at all, it stay at the same rpms, unless I pull the butterflies open 100% then it revs up but nothing in between.
Any ideas.

86 305TPI 700r4 car replaced by Gen1 350 block with the Tpi setup on there plus a T-5 behind it. Engine has a hot cam in it.

Thanks,
Thomas

Were the injectors replaced or was the ECM reprogrammed for the larger displacement?

Is the "Check Engine" light on?

The injectors are the originals, and the ecm in not programmed yet. I was told I could drive it there without too many problems by the engine builder. It seems to idle nice but the throttle response is zero. I replaced my knock sensor for the 350, my heads are ported, coolant temp sensor is new, new plugs, new msd HEI coil, new accel cap and rotor, new msd 8.5mm wires, fixed any broken wires that i could see.

This is what I did.
After engine started, but I havent timed it yet, throttle was normal it went up and down. Then I disconnected the brown wire on the passenger wirewall to set the timing, I proceeded to set timing to 6BTDC, then I reconnected the brown wire. Now it idles nice, but no throttle response. Also I do not have brake booster hooked up I just plugged the vacuum hole on the back of plenum, there is no powersteering pump, there is no smog pump on there anymre, the ac is not hooked up. I also went from a 700r4 to a T-5. Any ideas whats going on?

Thanks,
Thomas

Hi, I managed to get the throttle working(sort of). It revs up and goes back down like it should, but its really hard to keep it at 2000 rpms for the camshaft breakin. It fluctuates about 350 rpms. How important is it to keep it at exactly 2000 rpms, can it be between 1800 and like 2200?

Thanks,
Thomas

yea, let it vary. Above 2000-2500RPM is fine. Then you want to vary it at the later end. Make sure it's 20 minutes!
Hope you didn't wipe out the cam already
