car is having a coolant leak!!

car is having a coolant leak!!

i was driving the car to day and i saw smoke coming from my hood. is leaking coolant onto something hot like an exhaust pipe. it drip very fast right by the oil filter houseing area. but when the car is at operating temp it stop driping and smokeing what you think it is.

Most likely is the intake manifold leaking from the driver's side back corner. Also possible is head gasket, but less likely. Could also be a cracked head or block, or leaking expansion (freeze) plug.

I had a leak from an exhaust manifold bolt hole, of all things. I had headers on, changed from 3/4" long bolts to 1", and the rear one punched out the back of the bolt hole into the coolant passage. Leaked about like what you are describing, but mine is the only one I recall ever hearing about.
