87 firebird power problem
Hi everyone, I have an 87 firebird, has the 2.8 fuel injected engine, my question is, it seems that when the car starts after being off overnight and I start it the next morning and give it the gas and take off, the car seems to go fast!! I mean no hesitation or anything, however, after it has warmed up a bit, when taking off again the car seesm to lag, meaninmg when putting the pedal down the car seesm to not go as fast, it seems to bog down. I definetly notice the difference, at times I cant believe its a 6 cylinder because it moves so quick, then other times its a beast to move. One thing i notice, when it starts cold, the idle seesm to be higher, as it warms the idle goes down, this is with no AC on, as when AC is on i knoe the idle will change, it normally averages about 6 lines from the bottom of the tachometer, almost half way between 0 and the 1 on the tach, what should it be? as when it is idling faster, it seesm to be when the car is quicker when gas is pressed, any coincidece? Any help would be appreciated. One other thing, the car runs good otherwise, but also the idle satys even at a stop in drive, but it does seem to drop out a bit at times when standing still, just for split second, like its going to stall, but doesnt, then goes right back to the stated idle.

have you checked for arcing comming from the spark plugs... the best thing to do is at night some where dark open the hood with it running and see if you see arking from one of the wires... or plugs... i had this happen to my v8...
