I just recently bought an '87 Iroc that had been equipped w/ the LG4. The person I bought it from said that it had a new crate engine w/ 3000 miles on it. Any idea how I can check this and find out what I really have?

Engine: 355 w/ ported 416s
Transmission: T10, hurst shifter
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73
sure, look for the casting stamp. Above the bellhousing, driverside. It'll be HARD to see, flashlight and mirror style probably. Also, pull off a valve cover, and see what the casting # on the cylinder heads is. Any other stamps on the block might be a giveaway.
