TBI or TPI???

So i have been debating between the two and have not been able to tell which of them is better. From what i hear everyone says that the TPI is the way to go but it lacks up top, doe TBI perform better up top? Are there any advantages to having TBI or is it really just the dog of all time???

TBI to be put simply is a work horse designed Induction
system. Simple, economical.. But the last thing that comes
to my mind is Horsepower when talking TBI.. But anything
is possible.

TPI was the first "performance FI system" GM devised and
basically revolutionized the way we go fast today.. without
TPI's.. I dont think LTx/LSx would be the way they are now.

Tuned port chokes after 4500rpm without modifcation, but
the way torque curve is applied through-out the RPM band
is what makes LB9/L98's cars a blast to drive on the street.

Ive seen track cars equipped with TPI in the high
11's, or mid 12's and and alot over 13's.. with reliability.
The most overlooked thing bout TPI is that is readily
available for cheap.. Ideal choice for a streetcar, and
its sexy under the hood

I havent had that much Camaro experience myself being this is my first one. I do seem to notice that the TBI is simpler in design and will probably have less maintenance issues then TPI. I am sure you can tweak a TBI system enough to get good power out of it......how much though I dont know????? Hope this helps somewhat.

A TBI is a glorified carb. Wet intake manifold. It's hurtin', might as well go simple and do a carb.

TPI is fuel injection in it's CORRECT form. Dry manifold, injects right at the end of the ports. It's superior, better atomization, etc.

Notice the fast stock 3rd gens (Z-28's, etc) got the TPI, and the crappy slow RS's got the TBI? Yep.

Also notice that the TBI engine is setup almost the same as the 190 HP TPI engine. It lacked the good exhaust, the good cam, the good induction setup, and the hotter prom tuning. Fix these four things and a TBI engine will run as well as the TPIs do. The later TBI truck 305s make the same HP as the peanut cammed TPI 305 and about 5 ft/lbs less torque, with its peaks at a slightly lower RPMs.

TPI is FAR from CORRECT. It is still batchfire and not sequential.

the good induction setup
Yes, that's right, TBI lacks that

haha, alright, well, stock for stock, TPI motors rock TBI motors. Once you start modding each, the world is your oyster either way.
