Wacky 350 issues... Timing Changing while driving?

OK guys, I have just recently finished my 350 swap and had a couple odd issues.

I took the car out for its maiden voyage and on the way home from the 200 mile trip the car gradually was losing power until I had to park it 12 miles from home.

After getting it towed home, slapped a timing light on and the timing was a long ways off.... I just figured I must have not tightened down the dist. So we readjusted the timing, made sure the dist was tightened down and I went out and drove the car again.

This time, just down to the end of the street and back. I got on it a few times, nothing crazy, but a little bit. I noticed that it was losing power again... wtf!

I park it, slap the timing light back on, and again, its way off. Went from about 7deg advanced to about 10deg retarded in the matter of 2 miles down the road and back.

Its a TPI car, I have a 350 chip in, MSD Plug Wires, Cap/Rotor but original stock dist. The 350 has a ZZ4 cam in it and Flat top pistons, .030 over.

It was throwing a code 34, but has since stopped, atm its not throwing any codes.

Im at a loss for whats going on, anyone have any ideas for me?

I had this problem awhile back. I was using a cheap chrome dist. hold down clamp. I put a factory GM clamp on it and it fixed it.

its a stock clamp, dist. does not appear to have moved.

Reset the timing and mark the dist. with a marker or a scribe line. Drive the car. When it starts to run poorly check and see if your mark is still lined up.
