Storage Question?

I stored my TA up last November because I went away to college and I don't have the time to get it back up and running, plus with the lack of money, I had to get a true daily driver (kinda messed up on that too, got an RX7). Anyway, I have close to a month of for Winter Break coming up in a few weeks and was hoping to get the car back on the road in the spring, doing most of the needed work over the winter break.

Sorry got a little off topic, my question is...

I didn't full the gas tank up not did I put Sta-bil in it when I stored it, because I didnt know I was supposed to do that. I did put stabil in a few days ago, the car had been sitting for a year prior to this, and I doubt it'll do anything, I only did it because I added the stabil to my RX7 as its being stored for the winter as well. What should I expect when I go to start the car up again, and what might I have to replace because I didnt store it properly the first time. Also is there anything I can do or some additive I can add to get rid of all the gum that has probably built up? Thanks.

Seriously, I don't think any disaster is going to strike you, unless it was imminent anyway. The 350 is a sturdy piece of machinery that takes lots of abuse to bring down.
Ideally it's this or that way to store it, but for this once it should be able to survive. But be sure to charge the battery now, and then one more time before spring.
Just my ..

If it was running ok when shut down, should still be good to go.....but put a charge on the battery if you can. Check for obvious signs of bad grounds / electrically induced corrosion, etc, rotted vacuum hoses, tire condition and pressures. Check all fluids, top off with fresh gas, then take it easy coming up to operating temp, and then drive progressively harder to make sure all is well. Put together a check list for storage and re-birth, stick it in the car.

I helped my dad bring his 74 Corvette back from the dead after sitting for 7 years! It has a 350 with Holley carb on it. We did have to take the carb off and rebuild it. Had tons of scale buildup inside. He lives in Ohio where there's tons of humidity in the air. We also put fresh gas in it, replaced the spark plugs, and changed the oil/filter. It stunk to high heaven while it was burning through the old gas! That was really all we had to do to it though. As soon as the old gas was gone and we got the carb back in tune, it was running absolutely beautiful again. I agree with Fullsizewagon about the durability of a good old 350 Chevy. Oh yeah, he did have a loud backfiring too. That was due to the header tubes rusting through from sitting so long! I did tell him to make sure to put some Stabil in it from now on if he plans to let it sit awhile. Good insurance.

Look at www.enginewise.co.uk for storing tips!
I can recommend their VapouR Oil!
Put it f.i. in the gas tank, will keep it rust free for years!
