heater ducts

Whenever i turn the heater on, no matter where i put the hvac controls, other than off, the heat is blowing out of the defroster vents and the vents that blow towards you, and none coming out the console vents. It sucks coz the cold weather is here and it takes too long to defrost the windshield with this problem. How do you get to the ducts? I noticed as well that the one flapper door. just behind and under the hvac controls doesn't move at all in any position of teh controls.

I would venture to suggest replacing your control panel first.

This is the default when a vac leak is involved. Stick your ear to the HVAC control head on the pass side. If you hear hissing, it well may be that the vacumn diverter valve has gone bad.

Fix it, and find out the truth.

"I thought" is not very worthwhile; parts don't seem to respond strongly to their owner's thoughts.
