Question about port/polish heads

Would a machine shop be able to port and polish heads.Is porting and polishing heads a good thing to do?

yes, in fact you could do it yourself. if you gave some more info on your setup (carb,tpi,tbi,heads etc) then people might respond. anywho porting is easy, but time consuming. carbide bit and a bit of oil would do the trick. you should do a bit of reaserch first before you go ahead and do it thought.

porting and polishing just makes the intake and exhaust ports bigger. that exuals more power. pretty simple

It's a good thing to do, but paying a machine shop $80/hr to do it is rediculous. By the time they're done, you've paid as much as new high perf heads, and have less performance out of them. It only makes sense to do it yourself.

do it yourself.. its a good experience as well.. and later on, if you get the hang of it, let the word spread and have people pay YOU to port their heads.. money in the bank..
