My car seems to be running far to high of RPM at 60mph. At idle for sure its to high. Looks like the carb is sticking. At times I have to give it gas to keep the running at idle, but most often its around 1800-2200 rpm.

I believe my speedo may be off or its simply running to high of rpm at 60. Its at 2000-2200 rpm at 60mph

I have a 84 Z28, with a factory 305 motor and I believe 323's or 342's. (whatever came with the car from the factory)

 

stock tachs arent known for accuracy...

Idle, either your off the wall or the car is! lol Idle should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 800rpm

As for RPM @ 60mph, just over 2gs sounds right.

Just bought a new rebuilt tranny that was shipped out of FL. SO OD should be working and it seems it is. The reason I say that is, the old tranny had no OD (went out) and Im almost dead postive it ran higher at 60mph
