Which Knock Sensor...305 to 383??

I've done some searching and think I may have found my answer but am no where near sure.

I swapped a stock 305 TPI to a 383 HSR with Trickflow heads etc. I am currently using my 305 knock sensor but read I may need the 350 knock sensor.

Since this is a 730 Speed Density car, Do I need a new 350 sensor or will my 305 sensor suffice?

Knock sensor is tuned to bore diameter. Just like a musical instrument.

You need a 4" bore one; in other words, a 350 one.

I was just about to post a thread about my knock sensor...but you beat me to it...

I knew I needed a 350 knock for my 383 but my question is, see I have an 87 with MAF computer, I forgot the number of the ECM....and bought me a '93 350 sensor...should I have gotten an '87 350 sensor? Ive been reading something about voltage is different with computers or something like that....and MAF vs SD

so what should I do?

thanks

I am in the middle of a 305 to 383 swap and I bought a 350 KS as well. I did some messing around on Napa's website and it appears that the speed density Knock Sensors are a different part number than the MAF Knock Sensors. Anyway, Wishmaster you will need one for an 87-89 350 like I have. I ordered a KS from Napa for an 87 L98. If I remember correctly all of the Camaro, Firebird, and Corvette knock sensors from 87-89 are all the same part number. hope that helps

Yes, the MAF and SD sensors are different sensors. IIRC MAF reads 100k ohms and SD reads 3.9K ohms.
