What kind of rebuild kit?

Hey

After posting this in the wrong section, here we go

Well I just got my engine for 160 bucks!! Its a 1998 Vortec Motor out of a Yukon and you can tell that it has some wear on it (sry dont have a pic). It definetly needs a rebuild, so this is my question. Would a 1987- 1992 350 1pc rear main seal, roller rebuild kit do the trick, or do I need one specifically for a 1998 350 motor? The newer kit costs a lot more than the older one, is there a reason for that?

Thanks

Chris

You'll need Vortec-specific gaskets, if you use the heads (which would be a good idea).

I believe they also went from inch-dimensioned rings to mm-dimensioned.

Well the guy wanted to keep the heads so i bought the short block off of him. I have 081 heads that will go on there, after mods are done.

So i would need a kit for a vortec block or can i just use one for a 1 piece rms roller 350 ?

Thanks
