350 swap mph/rpm
I need help to figure out how to lower my rpm/mph ratio. I did a swap from a 305 tbi to a 350 zz4 tpi and my rpms are higher at the same speed with the 350 than it was with the 305. The car goes into overdrive at 35mph! I guess-timate that at 80 mph its around 3000 rpm with the 350 where as all my other 305's were just shy of 2000 rpm.
I still need to get it dyno-tuned but didn't know if that will help solve it some or if I need to upgrade the servo?

Used the correct TV bracket and adjusted it properly? If your guess on the rpm's is close then the tranny cannot be shifting into 4th, even if it may be locking the converter.. It's the 4th that is the overdrive, not the lockup. I say this because if it's really in overdrive then you have a 3000 stall converter now. If the servo were to be responible for the 1000 rpm extra then the tranny would have been toast in no time..

Your TV cable must be set incorrectly... Changing the engine won't change your MPH for a given RPM. Only a transmission or rear axle gear ratio change could affect it. Make sure that your TV cable is set properly, and make sure your torque converter lockup is functioning properly.. Check your connection at the driver side of the transmission if the TCC isn't working.

How would you adjust the bracket? But it is actually going into fourth at 35. I wonder that the tcc is setup wrong in the chip? Its still the stock coverter for the 305.

The descriptions are out there. I can't give you any specifics except that there are different TV brackets for different applications. The geometry by which the TV cable is moved by the throttle is important, and the adjustment of the TV cable itself is important. On my car I have hooked up a small lamp (LED) that extinguishes when the tranny enters 4th gear, and another that extinguishes when the TCC locks. How do you know the tranny goes into 4th, and not lockup? The rpm's and all you mention doesn't add up if it's in 4th. 35 is the speed where the TCC is (usually) allowed to lock.
