Looking to build my first Engine.
I have a tired old 350 sitting in my garage, that my dad gave to me, and I'd like to tear it down to the block and build my first engine. I want it to be a reliable streetable engine, but with some power to boot. It'd be my first engine I've ever built. What would you guys suggest for a semi-budget semi-powerful engine? Where should I start in the process? What all will I need? TIA!

Wow, that's one loaded question alright.
About a million different ways you can accomplish it too. First, forget reading magazines, they show nice shiny stuff and huge HP numbers that I doubt you'll get to. Pick up a book or three on the subject, David Vizards "how to rebuild your SBC" is a good manual on rebuilding the motor.
My combo worked pretty well, and is a fairly cheap one as well. Using 305 carbed heads, ported, a medium cam, flat top pistons and an edelbrock performer RPM. Should make in the neighborhood of 350HP or so.
