Rotor Bushing...how far down?

How far down through the distributer cap is it supposed to go? I just got a new MSD cap and rotor set up from Summit (along with my new plug wires) and after putting my old coil on the new cap, the bushing barely sticks down through the hole. Everything is as tight as I dare make it. The only reason I ask is that the old bushing stuck like almost 1/3 of an inch through the hole. Of course it fell apart as soon as I took it out. It may have been broken inside there?

The rounded tip and a tiny fraction of an inch of the shaft sticks through on the underside.

Assembly order from bottom to top, FYI: Cap, rotor bushing, insulator "donut", then the coil.

Huh, ok. I'm looking at the instructions from MSD here and that's correct...and your description is about how far it sticks down. The old one stuck out further. I guess it really was bad or broken as it litterally came in two when I pulled the coil out (the bushing was stuck to the bottom of the coil).

Don't forget the spring. It keeps tension on the bushing so it makes proper contact with the rotor. Most of them I've seen, the rounded end just barely protrudes from the underside of the cap, so it sounds like you've got it together right.

Then I'm going to call it good and not worry about it anymore.
