Im trying to put my timing chain cover back on with no luck. I have the first 3 bolts out on each side of the oil pan. I can't get the cover to slip back on. Im thinking about triming the cover to get it back on easier. Do I just trim the corners off each side? Here is a pic of my cover.

you should loosen all those bolts of your oil pan on both sides. remove the frist 3 on both sides and loosen the rest. thatll give you more clearance. you can modify your cover by cutting the edges where the seal sits at a 45* angle. anything more and your askin for leaks or missalignment

Ya have to remove more of the oil pan side bolts and get the front of the pan loose (just loose).Trim the timing cover as shown. add a little strip of gasket sealer along the oil pan gasket that you loosened to allow refitting the timing cover. Add a bit of gasket sealer to the corners of the cover and seal. Do not bend or force the cover.
once more of the oil pan side rail bolts are loosened with the first few removed and the corners are trimmed off the cover seal lip it all goes back together without a sweat.

can i also suggest a timing cover that can be removed without having to drop the pan. i forget the name for it goes into your stock timing location and bolts up the the block, then the cover bolts to the piee attached to your block. it allows you to swap cams and change timing gears without dropping the pan. add to that the CSR water pump and you dont even need to remove your accessories to change a cam. im just suggesting the removable timing cover because your cover is off already.

snip the ears off with tin snips on that timing cover, cut off the ends at a good angle
use RTV black sealer in a small tube for 3 bucks at the store
remove front three bolts on oil pan both sides, use rubber mallet to coax the cover back on if so needed,
once you figure it out youll always know how to do this
RTV is your friend on this cover reinstall
and gramps what are you the forum po-po ?
if the signatures really cause an issue or whatever you are
trying to claim then the admins would kindly let us know and im sure a length/character limit would have been in enforce long ago, in which surely they are talented enough to perform
hmmm
good luck

haha your just agruing because your sig is just as long
Got it back on
I loosened up all the bolts except the ones next to the starter. Didn't feel like taking the starter out. It went back in nicely. I would have gone with a 2 piece style Gramps but I am trying to get everything back together asap. My car has been down for a week now. I just wanted to put a cam in lol. Although I hit another set back today. I took my headers to an exhaust shop to have them cut the air tubes off and weld them shut. They ended up putting a nice dent in one of them
They said they would order new ones but thats going to take a couple of days. Was hoping to have my car running by this weekend

Yeah, can you believe the guy tried to play it off at first? He was like "oh its just a little dent, it won't affect the flow that much" I wanted to
