92 CAMARO RS NOT RUNNING RIGHT.
92 CAMARO RS NOT RUNNING RIGHT.
This is my first Thread/Post.. So correct me if I need to be corrected. I have a 1992 camaro RS 5.0L 305 V8 Tbi. I just got the car from a guy that really did not know what he was doing. The firing order was all wrong. The distributer was not installed correctly. I have installed the distributer, pulled all plugs and gaped them, installed new spark plug wires, and a new map sensor. I have got the car to run 95 precent better but I can not zero in on the timing. the car revs with a little miss parked but under load/ driving car, but when driving on the road the engine still miss bad under 2200 rpm. Past 2200 rpm it cruises ok as long as I don't need to mash the gas or going up a hill it has no power and I have to fight the gas pedal as if it wants to stall. Help please. I feel like i'm chassing a tune..
P.S I don't hear any vacume leaks, but I may be wrong. My next step is to use some soap and water.. Any other suggestions would help. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to give as much info as possible.

One thing to check is the timing. You might have too much or too little initial or total timing. You should be able to find the stock settings somewhere to check against. Another is the fuel injectors. If you pull off the air cleaner and watch the injectors squirt as you give it throttle, you should be able to tell if one of them isn't working properly. The ones I've seen will just either have a very bad/inconsistent spray pattern or just be dribbling fuel from it.

have you checked out the ignition control module, the coil? did you replace the distributor cap and rotor?
I have not checked the injectors yet but I will do so. The distributor cap and rotor are MSD. The cap and rotor look good but the coil has a little rust. How do I check the voltage, Or is it just worth it to get a new coil. Also I will look it up but if any of you could tell me how to check the ignition control moduel that would be great.
P.s I also get a message in the dash that is shoing INFL REST.... The word REST is right below INFL. Does any one know what the means.
