Gas Tank Leaking... (85 Trans Am)

Filled my car up Friday at lunch.
Went outside to go home, saw a large area of fluid under the car.
Moved the car forward and discovered it was gas.

Drove the car home and parked it. 3 days later (yesterday) there was still gas on the ground.

Checked the fuel gauge last night and it was right ar 3/4 tank (only drove about 7 miles after filling up).

Took the gas cap off to syphon out the gas (lots of pressure when I was taking the cap off). I was unable to get much fuel out...

Checked under the car this evening and there is no gas on teh ground, but still some around the heat shield (appears to be leaking much slower now).

Any ideas of why there was so much pressure in the tank? or where it may be leaking from (items for me to check for)?

Car has 73K original miles and is stock (has the 305 and is automatic) except for the exhaust.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Steve

If it hasn't had a sending unit upgrade, (beginning late '88 and up) then the pressure relief valve is in the sending unit. I'm not sure if the '85 has the remote pressure/vacuum relief valve near the left corner of the gas tank.

Remote P/V relief valve.
