Hi all,

Got an 88 IROC with the LB9 tuned port motor. It has a stumble off idle, and sometimes won't run over 1/3 throttle when hot. I've had to idle it home when it happens.

I scanned it, and got a code 33. Does that tell me the MAF is definately bad, or are there any other issues I should look in to?

I'd appreciate any help I can get. I'm a poor retired mechanic, and have to fix it with limited tools....

 

I have had/am having code 33s as well. Original the car overheated and threw the code. This time My mom flooded my car somehow and it wouldn't start up, threw the code again when I finally got it to start with some starter fluid.

Unhook your battery and turn the ignition to on to drain the power from the system. Then give it a minute... hook it up. Resets the code. See if it throws it again.

 

Just unhooked the battery, left it unhooked for a minute. Hooked it back up, started it up, drove it around a couple of blocks. It popped, stalled, and the check engine light came on again. Again, code 33......
