i have a 86 z28 and i was driving to work and it started to make a wurring nouse or howling from the back of my car i stoped and checked all of the tires and there psi is correct could this be a sign of a rear end ready to fail

i drove the car 8 miles back to my house and everything works except for thet noise that gets worse if i engine brake

any suggestions would be helpfull thanks
