Hi, I'm probably going to be buying a 2.8 89 Firebird here in a couple of days. Its got 107k miles on it, pretty sure everything in the car is stock. I was wondering with good caretaking on it, how many more miles do you think this baby has left?

 

one of the greatest things about 3rd gens is you can change the motor.

That would be the first mod 'd I'd make.

I had a 2.8 in a fiero, it was a good motor, I sold the car when it had 175,000.

 

allright awesome. But I really dont know anyone who works on cars and I really dont know much about motors. How hard is it to change the motor?

 

Look into the engine swap area for the things needed to do the swap.

If you dont want to do the swap, the engine has plenty of life. Take it into a shop if you dont want to do the work yourself, and have a performance tune up done, maybe add a few little go fast parts to make the engine more efficient.

My buddy has a V6 in his 92 RS that is reading 320 000km, equal to about 200 000miles. These things will go forever with proper maintinence, oil changes etc.
