camshaft problem...
my camaro is equiped with the 305 LG4 engine!i don't know its factory camshaft specs.i decide to tune up my engine so i change the intake manifod with a same gn factory but aluminum...then i replace the exhaust maniflods with after market and i change the camshaft with an aftermarket 214/214@0.50 and finaly i replace the rockers with 1.6 ratio!!so i have a big problem!!my torque went for a walk...my car does not even leave skid marks at a kickdown start and most of all...when i drive to the highway..my tach reaches 5000rpm but the speedometer wont go over 130km/h.now after all these things i decide that my motor was better with the stock parts.please tell me were did i go wrong in all this!!what is happening and what should i do to have the right power from my motor?thanks a lot guys!!

The factory cam was very very small. Somewhere around 190°/195° @ .050", .375"/.390" lift.
Whenever you put in a larger cam, expect low-end torque (spinning tires from a stop) to decrease. A bigger cam produces a trade-off: you give up some low end, in exchange for better high-RPM performance.
Not all cams with one "spec" are equal. Some 214° cams might be good for an engine like that one, but some are terrible. What cam is this, exactly?
If you didn't do anything else to the engine to improve its high-RPM performance, then the larger cam may not be doing any good at all. That particular engine desperately needs bigger exhaust. Without that, an improvement in the cam profile will not give improved high-RPM power; instead, you'll be giving up the low-end torque, but getting nothing in exchange. That may have happened to you.

as i said i also put 1.6 ratio rockers.also my cat converter has been removed and headers also have been installed.i really don't know what to say.my mechanic here told me that maybe this camshaft is doing good work in high compressssion engines and because my engine has 8.6:1 that is what make my engine so "dead".but in the city drive i can say that i am ok...but in the highway...my engine gives me the feeling that begins to give power after 4500rpm!also something else...1st and 2nd gear make just onlu sound onlu when drive is in the car begins to increase speed!i also want to tell you that my th350 is just rebuilted a month ago!

What cam is this? What headers? What exhaust? I hope none of the exhaust parts were designed specifically for the LG4; because if so, they PRESERVED the restriction in the exhaust, instead of eliminating restriction.

i bought it from a friend of mine.he has the same car with me but he has a 350 engine in it.this cam was in that motor of his!he install it about 3 months ago but he wanted more power and purchase another bigger cam and gave this to me.he told me that is a perfect cam for a 305 motor.he also told me that he purchased it from summit and the specs are 214/214@0.50 just that!

That's what I was afraid of...
Not a good 305 cam at all. That's a REALLY REALLY old design, intended originally for a larger motor (350) and higher compression. It has real long, slow, lazy ramps, si it opens the valves REAL SLOW; the valves spend lots of time just barely cracked open, in other words basically just leaking, not really flowing. What you get from it is ALOT of the "big cam" problems of rough idle, poor fuel economy, and sluggish low-RPM performance; and not nearly as much of the benefits of a "big cam" that modern ones give.
A Comp Cams XE256 would be a MUCH better choice.
