looking at swaping my cam in the next few weeks i will be running a set of ported 305 vortec heads on a rebuilt 355 vortec block... rpm airgap intake 600cfm performer carb may get a 750cfm... hedman lt 1 5/8 headers... 3" catback 3.42 rear and a built 700r4. i was looking at getting the Xtreme Energy 08-503-8 ( 224/230 502/510 112 LSA).. you think that cam would work well with my combo?
the 305 vortec made 230 HP/290 TQ with the stock cam (191/196 .418/.430 111 lsa) crap exhaust and that spider intake system...

Should be a good choice. I am running th 08-502-08 on a vortec longblock and am very happy with the results. Good power and still has good low end torque but will require more timing on the low end.
Just noticed you said it is a 305. That may be a bit much cam for a 305.

You'll have a strong 305, probably make quite a few people turn heads. it'll be a high reving 305 so perhaps little soggy down low with the 3.42. You may find that you might need 3.73. but give it a shot first with the 3.42.

is that a flat tappit grind ? I have an older 2piece block and, am looking for a sweet cam to throw in my 1985 Monte CarSlow. What about a torque convertor ? What would be a good one for it ?

its not a 305 its a 355 running 305 vortec heads.... casting 520... they cost me 100bux + shipping and they had just been rebuilt so i decided to get them. wich means im gonna be running close to 11:1 comp and they flow pretty well too.

thats a very popular cam/intake setup and it makes great power. Good choice you'll be happy with it. you could go abit more cam with that compression ratio tho... but i'm not sure how streetable you want to be and how high you want to rev it

i was just trying to get some more power out of my 350 for now... i plan on dropping in a 383 or possibly a 400 next year.. this was my budget build. i spent most of my money on things that will interchange... exhaust intake... bad *** 700r4 and new rear. im just wanting something fun to drive till i get the actual power plant in her.
