Identification #'s on 350 SBC

I have an option to purchase this 350 SBC 4 bolt main, 1 rear seal with casting #'s as follows.....

GM 5.7LG SGI

E239

14093638

Would this be a likely motor to fit standard into my 92 Z28? I currently have a solid 350, but this could be a project motor to start building. For a $100, who wouldn't want to consider? Thanks for your input.

PS...I apologize if this is the wrong category to place this question, i figured the technical area would be the best place to find out!

14093638...350...87-95...2 or 4...Roller or flat tappet cam, one-piece rear seal

its the right year and style for a 92 yes

for 100 bucks its a great deal if its a virgin block and not damaged in the cylinders or anywhere else and if the main caps and rod caps are not mixed up

have you sene it to confirm its a 4 bolt ?

it could be a 2 bolt

and it could either be a roller or a flat tappet, either one with this block casting

you shoulda gave us the stamping suffix code off the front of the deck passenger side.,

good luck

What can I look for when I inspect for damage? The motor has never been rebuilt he says. Is there a common place for pitting or cracking that would hinder the operation of the motor? The motor is all in pieces, the guy took it apart with the intentions of just doing a piston ring job & bearings, but said he scratched the crank. While doing this, he said he resorted to buying a brand new "Turnkey" assembly. With this $100 I get the motor, heads (188 casting #), pistons, rods, pullys, water pump, distributer, oil pan, alternator, power steering pump, and buncha stuff he said he doesn't want with it. My intentions are to sit on it until I can afford a stroker kit to assemble the motor.

If the crank is already out it I would suggest confiriming that the main caps were put back in their correct spots. Beyond that it seems like a good deal.

cracks have to be checked with a process called magnufluxing, at the machine shop,

otherwise its a gamble as to whether theres any cracks or not

normally there arent, unless its been really abused or something else bad, or severely overheated, etc

good luck
