ran out of fuel new walbro pump wont spit

ok, so i ran out of fuel while trying to tune my engine, i did this last year too... i shut it of asap. put 5 gallons in and took about 3 mins with the prime port to get fuel to pump, after that it was fine... so i did it again today, sisce then ive spent 4 hours trying to get fuel back to the motor! ive have tried everything. im out of ideas, its a 2 year old walbro pump, it still makes all kinda of noise its in fuel so its lubed, it just wont make my guage flicker.... any ideas on how to prime it, i cant even pour fuel into the feed line, it wont take any, but its all air. this is getting stupid now....

sounds like impeller is gone...motor still spins but no pumping taking place. you cant ever let these things run dry you must have a check valve in front of it so it has fuel at all times.

Is this an intank walbro or frame mounted in-line?

If frame mounted than see my first reply

If in tank, pick-up hose from pump to main line either came off or ruptured.

pump

its an intank... how come i cannot siphon on the line or cannot blow through the line... i sould be able to atleast siphon on the line pulling the pump right? im working off the like that connects 4 inches from the tank, so theres no kinks, clogged filters.. ect... i dont know.....maybe it burned.. i wouldnt think that it would only being dry for 10 seconds...

not if the short piece of hose between the pick-up and pump blew.

I believe newer pumps have a built in pressure relief valve.
There's another member who just finished replacing a 2 year old Holley pump, went through a lot of testing because it just couldn't be the pump.

And, I'm not knocking the pump, I have one, and it's 5 yrs old, but I know mine doesn't have a PRV, so I didn't use that short piece of hose they include in the kit to replace the pulsator.
