Another car won't start.
Alright, so my 92 RS was working fine earlier in the day. Parked it at home, even went out and reparked it later. Now when i go to start it just an hour later, it cuts all electrical power. Batteries fine. I can turn the key twice to "On," and turn my radio, lights, and anything else on. When i turn it to start though, all the power cuts out. Doesn't click or turn over, it just dies. No radio, lights, cabin lights or anything. All power goes out until i turn it back to off, take out the key and wait a few seconds. Then i can rinse and repeat.

The grounds is one of the first things i was thinking of, it was dark when this happened though so i havent checked anything yet. Where are the engine and chassis grounds?

So I'm about to head out to a local car audio store and buy some 4 or 2 gauge to replace the "Big 3." To add another hint of joy, after checking lights and radio with the ignition set at "On," i tried to start the car again and the power cut out once more. Since the was no visible power and the lights were off, i neglected to push the light *** back to the off setting.. Even though they weren't really on, they drained the battery over night.
I'll see how it goes after i replace my grounds and get a jump.

not possible if the lights arent working and the switch is left on there is absolutly no way that the lights could have drained your battery...now if you left the key on thats a different story

Thats what i thought at first, but i still had plenty of power last night when the ignition was set to "on," and this morning i have none. Neither the dash lights, cabin lights, radio, or headlights work today as they did last night. Thats the only way i could explain that the battery was drained. I suppose the lights might have turned on after sitting there for awhile, but the first few times i tried to turn the car on and the power cut off, the lights would pop back on almost as soon as i took the key out of the ignition. I sat out there for awhile and they stayed off.
Anyways, should i replace the battery terminals while I'm at it. Also, can i wire the grounds up to the same nut the stock wire is connected to, or should i make a new spot for the ground?
Thanks

Sounds like a loose, or corroded battery connection, make sure you have good clean metal to ground to, the last time that happened to me the positive post was broken internally, lights, radio, but no way it was going to provide the current load a starter requires, the power would just cut off, until it finally just gave up completely.
P.S. Don't hate on my lights that don't work but drain my battery Spitot.
